For the past 18 years, Hala Rharrit has served in the State Department, and for the past year and a half, she served as an Arab language spokeswoman until announcing her resignation due to the Biden administration’s policy on the Israel-Hamas war.
“I had full intentions of continuing on in my career until I reached senior levels,” Rharrit told CNN. “I never had the intention of resigning.”
Rharrit is the first-known career U.S. diplomat to resign due to the Biden administration’s position on the more than six-month-long conflict. Now, reportedly, two other State Department officials, Josh Paul and Annelle Sheline, have also resigned for the same reason.
