An Indiana family claims Cincinnati Children’s Hospital refused to place their 12-year-old daughter on a heart transplant list due to her unvaccinated status, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
Janeen Deal, whose family is distantly related to Vice President JD Vance through marriage, said the hospital requires her daughter, Adaline, to obtain COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations before being considered for a transplant, according to the outlet. The family refused, citing religious and medical beliefs.
Adaline came into the world with two heart conditions and the Deals adopted her from China at age 4, fully aware she would eventually need a transplant, according to Janeen. She said her daughter has received treatment at Cincinnati Children’s for nearly a decade as the family considers the hospital the best in the region, and they had wanted her to undergo surgery there.
