Just hours after Matt Gaetz withdrew his nomination as attorney general, President-elect Trump identified a long-time member of the MAGA movement to replace him.
Pam Bondi, the former Florida attorney general, spent eight years as the Sunshine State’s top lawyer and has maintained her long association with the president-elect since leaving office.
As Florida’s attorney general, she opposed same-sex marriage and worked to challenge the constitutionality of Obamacare.
President Trump is looking forward to Ms. Bondi becoming head of the justice department.
He was not pleased with how Jeff Sessions, his first attorney general, failed to take control of the department, and he has learned who will not be dependable and who will as he prepares for his second term.
