President-elect Donald Trump announced a flurry of new Cabinet selections on Thursday night, including his choices for his Border Patrol commissioner, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement acting director, and ambassador to China.
Trump made six different choices, with the majority geared toward homeland security and immigration.
Trump nominated Rodney Scott to be his commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Scott served as his Border Patrol chief from February 2020 to August 2021.
“Rodney served nearly three decades in the Border Patrol, building vast experience and knowledge in Law Enforcement and Border Security,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Rodney served as the 24th Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol, where he implemented Remain-in-Mexico, Title 42, Safe Third Agreements, and achieved record low levels of illegal immigration.”
