President Trump will not invite former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo or former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley to be members of his incoming cabinet, he announced in a Saturday night post on Truth Social.
“I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation,” Trump wrote shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.
“I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country,” he continued,
The announcement followed an intense social media pressure campaign, particularly surrounding Pompeo, who served as Trump’s Secretary of State from 2018 until his term’s finish in 2021. (RELATED: Trump Told Mike Pompeo To ‘Shut The Hell Up’ About China At Start Of Pandemic, New Memoir Claims)
