On Nov. 5, then-former President Donald Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) defeated Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) in the 2024 presidential election. Approximately a month after the defeat, Walz spoke to Tom Hauser from KSTP-TV, an ABC affiliate in St. Paul, Minnesota, and expressed shock over the election defeat.
“It felt like at the rallies, at the things I was going to, the shops I was going in, that the momentum was going our way, and it obviously wasn’t,” Walz told Hauser. “So, yeah, I was a little surprised. I really, I thought we had a positive message, and I thought the country was ready for that.”
