Texans Cornerback Kris Boyd Pushes Coach In Fiery Exchange After First Play Of Playoff Game

Houston Texans cornerback Kris Boyd threw off his helmet and shoved special teams coordinator Frank Ross in the chest after kickoff in Saturday’s divisional playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs had launched a kickoff return through wide receiver Nikko Remigio, who waltzed through the Texans’ coverage in a race for the end zone. Boyd appeared to lunge at Remigio and hauled him down, making him lose his grip on the ball. Boyd then peeled away and tossed his helmet in apparent celebration.

Boyd’s celebration was premature, however, as Chiefs running back Samaje Perine recovered the fumble. Boyd bagged a penalty which would be enforced half the distance to the goal for his unsportsmanlike act of throwing his helmet.
