Teen Olympic Skateboarder’s Parents Promised Her a Pet Duck If She Won, Earns Gold Medal

Skateboarder Arisa Trew made history on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at the 2024 Paris Olympics as the youngest Australian to win a medal, and she will have something special waiting for her at home: a pet duck.

During a press conference after her victory, the 14-year-old said her parents promised her she could get a pet duck if she won a gold medal. 

“Ducks are really cute and I really wanted a pet duck,” Trew told reporters when asked about her unconventional gift choice.
