The Supreme Court blocked an order on Friday that would force the Trump administration to pay out millions of dollars in teacher training grants.
In a 5-4 decision, the justices halted a lower court’s temporary order that prevented the government from canceling the grants as part of its effort to cut programs related to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
The court wrote states that sued have not “refuted the Government’s representation that it is unlikely to recover the grant funds once they are disbursed.”
U.S. District Judge Myong Joun, a Biden appointee, issued an order March 10 blocking the Department of Education’s (DOE) effort to cancel the grants. (RELATED: Trump Admin Asks Supreme Court To Block Order Preventing Gang Member Deportations)
