U.S. stocks were mixed ahead of a panel of major central bank officials that is expected to provide insight into their views on the economy, inflation and the path of monetary policy.
The S&P 500 edged down 0.4% Wednesday morning, after the broad-market index closed down 2% on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was about flat, while the Nasdaq Composite Index slipped 0.7%.
