Senate votes on Kash Patel to lead FBI

As a Trump loyalist, Patel’s nomination has been highly critical of the agency being weaponized against President Donald Trump. The president has suggested agents that investigated the January 6 Capitol riot will be fired.

Patel, who previously served as the Chief of Staff to Acting Secretary of Defense Christoper Miller, can only afford to lose the vote of three Republican senators to be confirmed.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said she would be voting against Patel, pointing out that Patel has failed to show his apolitical attitude toward the FBI.
