Sheriff Dan Marx of Winneshiek County, Iowa, is refusing to comply with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers, calling them “unconstitutional” in a Facebook post Tuesday.
An ICE detainer, according to the agency, is a request to local law enforcement to hold an illegal alien for up to 48 hours and notify ICE as soon as possible before they release them.
Marx, claiming he does not trust the way ICE agents have been conducting their business, said that he would block, interfere and interrupt their actions if he deemed them unconstitutional.
