A rare copy of the U.S. Constitution found inside a filing cabinet in North Carolina sold Thursday for millions of dollars at an auction in the state.
One bidder forked over more than $9 million for the founding document — which sold within seven minutes, Brunk Auctions owner Andrew Brunk confirmed to CBS News.

“To go from a filing cabinet in Edenton, North Carolina to being sold for $11 million is quite the journey,” the auction owner said.
Bids flooded in at $500,000 intervals, according to the outlet. Approximately ten bids were placed on the phone, two bids were online, and one buyer attended the North Carolina auction in person, Brunk said.
