Rams linebacker Ernest Jones said Sunday that he never requested a trade from Los Anegels.
Jones posted Sunday on X that he “never asked for a trade” following multiple reports that he has been given permission to seek one out amid an impasse with the Rams on a contract extension.
Jones, a defensive captain and a key contributor to the Rams’ defense for the past three seasons, is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
Jones became a mainstay of the Rams’ defense two seasons ago, playing alongside Bobby Wagner for a year before taking over as the linchpin in the middle of the lineup last season. Jones led the Rams last year with 145 tackles — 51 more than safety Jordan Fuller in second place — while making 4.5 sacks and excelling as a blitzing linebacker.
