Putin meets Xi in Beijing amid Ukraine tensions

The leaders of Russia and China are bolstering relations amid mounting tensions with the West. Vladimir Putin met with Xi Jinping in Beijing Friday ahead of the Winter Olympics for their first in-person meeting in more than two years.

Moscow reported that it prepared more than 15 contracts and agreements for the visit. In televised remarks, Putin said he offered a new contract to supply natural gas to China by way of a new proposed pipeline.
