Penguins’ Sidney Crosby Only 10th Player In NHL History To Hit 1,600 Career Points

Sidney Crosby — captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins — has become only the 10th NHL player in league history to score 1,600 career points, joining the elite club Wednesday night against the Buffalo Sabres. The Penguins won in an overtime thriller, 6-5.

With a little over half of the first period over and the Pens facing a 2-0 deficit, Crosby knocked a beautiful pass to center Evgeni Malkin, who popped the shot at the net. Right wing Bryan Rust was quick to respond for the Pens, getting the puck and the goal to bring Buffalo’s lead down to 2-1. Crosby was given a secondary assist on the stat sheet.
