Oil Prices Rise, Stock Futures Waver After Volatile Session

Oil prices rose again and stock futures wavered, as Russia escalated its attacks on the Ukrainian city of Mariupol.

S&P 500 futures traded flat and Dow Jones Industrial Average futures traded broadly flat. Changes in futures don’t necessarily predict market moves after the markets open. On Thursday, both indexes closed lower.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.6% Friday. Materials and energy sectors led gains, while the consumer staples sector lost ground. U.K.’s FTSE 100 added 0.9%. Other stock in Europe also mostly climbed as France’s CAC 40 gained 0.4%, the FTSE 250 climbed 1.3%, and Germany’s DAX added 0.6%.
