Ohio, once a critical swing state, has been fully turned red. Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, who has publicly held office in the Buckeye State since 1975, lost his reelection bid to Bernie Moreno this week. President Trump’s popularity in Ohio forced Brown to run a campaign falsely portraying himself as a “moderate”. Senator Brown probably expected his strategy of running as a “moderate” to work in 2024, as Brown deployed a similar strategy in 2018 and won reelection by 6.4%.
