Four people were found dead of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning in a New Hampshire home on Christmas Day after they failed to show up for a holiday gathering, authorities said.
Officers discovered the bodies during a welfare check at the Wakefield residence at 4:21 p.m. Wednesday, the Wakefield Police Department (WPD) wrote in a statement.
“It’s a terribly tragic event. It comes in a year we’ve had a tough year in general for carbon monoxide deaths and fire fatalities in our state,” New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean Toomey told WMUR-TV. “I really hope to make it through the holidays without another death. And unfortunately, I’m standing before you today with four more deaths that appear to be carbon monoxide-related.” (RELATED: Officials Use Stretchers, Wheelchairs As 18 Maryland Students Become Ill During Mass)
