We all have a bit of collective amnesia on COVID. We lost family and friends, who passed away terrified as we were barred from being by their side. We lost our jobs, our businesses, our livelihoods and often our lifelong relationships in the ensuing social discord. And of course, even those of us who made it out relatively unscathed lost years of our lives to the whims of petty authoritarians.
We don’t want to dwell on these painful years. We don’t want to admit that those same authoritarians in government and the medical establishment could have had a hand in unleashing the very virus they claim to have saved us from. Re-litigating fault and accountability means reliving the trauma all over again, reckoning with the complicity of our obeisance, and accepting that even so, justice might still not be served.
