While Sen. Mitch McConnell might be stepping down from Senate leadership on paper, it’s clear he’s not giving up the reins any time soon. That’s bad news for the incoming Trump administration, which will likely face obstruction in the Senate. But it’s even worse news for America’s global standing: nearly a decade into the America First pivot, and McConnell still just doesn’t get it.
