Rudy Giuliani, an ally of President-elect Donald J. Trump and former New York City mayor, has been denied a request to reschedule an upcoming trial to attend Trump’s inauguration. U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman, a Democrat who was appointed by Trump in 2018, turned down Giuliani’s request during a hearing on Tuesday.
Giuliani is currently in a legal dispute for allegedly defaming two election workers from Georgia. His lawyer, Joseph M. Cammarata, argued Giuliani, an advisor to President-elect Trump, needs to be present at the inauguration on January 20.
