Security was increased at the United States Capitol due to Biden’s DHS declaring January 6th, 2025, a “national security emergency.” Polling on September 11th, when Biden and DHS Secretary Mayorkas declared January 6th, 2025, a “national security event,” showed that Kamala Harris had an opportunity to win the election.
