Jenna Ortega thinks she may have auditioned for Dune.
In a new interview with BuzzFeed published on Monday, Aug. 26, the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actress, 21, shared why she thinks she may have been up for the 2021 role that eventually went to Zendaya.
About halfway through the nearly 12-minute clip, the young star (who played with a group of dachshund puppies for the duration of the conversation) was asked what’s a role that people would be surprised to hear that she auditioned for.

“I think I auditioned for Dune when I was about 15,” Ortega said with a smile.
She added that she was a big fan of the franchise and was “really excited” because Denis Villeneuve “is one of my favorite filmmakers.”
