The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed Thursday that 120 Israeli commandos infiltrated Syria and destroyed an underground Iranian missile manufacturing facility during a September 2024 operation.
The raid, conducted roughly 124 miles from Israel’s northern border, involved special operations forces who had received forklift certification to operate equipment inside the weapons facility, The Times of Israel reported.
The IDF described the site as “Iran’s flagship project” for supplying arms to Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based militant group, according to the outlet. The IDF released footage from the raid on social media.
