IAEA blames Ukraine for drone strike at Kursk nuclear power plant, warns of “nuclear incident” risk
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has warned of a “nuclear incident” risk at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) in western Russia, condemning Ukraine for its drone strikes that heighten this risk.
“There is a risk of a nuclear incident at the KNPP,” IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi said on Aug. 27. His remarks followed his visit on the facility, located in the city of Kurchatov in Russia’s Kursk Oblast that borders Ukraine, on the same day.
