Here in the United States, we suffered a Civil War in the 1860’s; actual combat, amongst ourselves, on our own soil. Yet WE still held an election for President. What’s Ukraine’s excuse?
The simple fact is, something can very likely be worked out with Russia to halt the combat so an election can take place safely.
It would be in Russia’s interests to do that because, as should be obvious, a new elected President in Ukraine might have very different policies toward Russia, thereby bringing an end to the combat permanently.
