In USA Fencing as a Senior Women’s Foilest, 31-year-old Stephanie Turner protested a biological male opponent by taking a knee against them. Recently in the USA Fencing event, The Cherry Blossom Open, Turner was set to take on Redmond Sullivan, a man who identifies as a woman.
In the aftermath of Turner‘s knee, she was handed a “black card,” which is the worst punishment in fencing. The black card resulted in Turner being disqualified from being able to compete in the tournament, and on top of that, she was escorted out of the building. She’s also facing potential suspensions when it comes to events in the future.
