Today’s youth are seemingly infatuated with the fast fame and easy wealth flaunted by YouTubers, influencers, OnlyFans models and the likes of the Kardashians.

The digital era has exposed vulnerable teens to an artificial world that is posed, primped, filtered, and rehearsed, before it is presented to them as today’s version of “instant” success. The apparent overnight success has made “influencing” more appealing than traditional career goals, and has diminished the focus previously put on education, resilience, and hard work.

A 2019 poll found that the most desirable career path for kids in the U.S. was doing YouTube or “vlogging” — outpacing teaching, astronauts, athletes, and others.
