Florida voters will have the chance to change how school board elections in the state are conducted.
The Florida House of Representatives submitted HJR 31 to the Secretary of State in June, and voters are expected to vote on the issue in the general election in 2024. The resolution would change the state’s school board elections to be conducted in a partisan manner if passed.

HJR 31 is “a joint resolution proposing an amendment to Section 4 of Article IX and the creation of a new section in Article XII of the State Constitution to require members of a district school board to be elected in a partisan election,” according to the legislation.
The resolution went on to say that voters will decide on it in the next general election.
