One million undocumented immigrants were not granted citizenship by U.S. President Joe Biden in June, despite social media posts misrepresenting a new program for certain noncitizen spouses of U.S. citizens.
A June 18 post on Facebook, opens new tab said, in part: “Biden just gave citizenship to 1 MILLION illegal aliens by Executive Order.”
The post refers to Biden’s June 18 announcement, opens new tab of new actions that include easing the process for eligible noncitizen spouses of U.S. citizens to obtain lawful permanent residence (LPR).
