Ex-FBI informant to plead guilty to lying that Bidens accepted bribes

Former FBI informant Alexander Smirnov agreed to plead guilty on Thursday to falsely claiming to federal agents that President Joe Biden and his son Hunter once accepted millions of dollars in bribes from a Ukrainian oligarch.

Smirnov, who had worked as an informant for the FBI since 2010, admitted to making the false statements to the FBI and to evading taxes on more than $2 million in unreported income from 2020 to 2022, according to a plea agreement Smirnov reached with special counsel David Weiss.

Weiss brought the indictment against Smirnov in February while the special counsel was also leading two prosecutions against Hunter Biden.
