Ruth Westheimer, the celebrity sex therapist known as “Dr. Ruth,” has died at 96.

Her publicist, Pierre Lehu, confirmed Westheimer’s passing on Friday; however, no cause of death was released.
Born in 1928 in Germany, the sex therapist survived the Holocaust and moved to the U.S. in 1956 when she was 28 years old.
She worked in academia for many years before becoming well-known in 1980 thanks to the radio program “Sexually Speaking” on New York’s WYNY network.
