Disneyland workers and company reach agreement

Disneyland employees have reached a preliminary agreement on a new contract, avoiding what would have been the first strike at the California theme park in 40 years.

“We have shown Disney that we are the true magic makers of the park and today proves that when workers stand together for what they deserve, we win,” the Disney Workers Rising Bargaining Committee said in a statement. 

“We look forward to making our voices heard during the voting process to ratify this contract.”

Last week, four unions representing more than 14,000 workers at Disney’s theme parks and resorts voted to authorize a strike, citing unfair labor practices in contract negotiations.

Before a formal vote agreement on Monday, the committee will share details with the union members.
