State education officials nationwide were directed to drop racially discriminatory practices under the guise of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) or risk losing federal funding, the Department of Education warned Friday.
The Department of Education’s acting assistant secretary for civil rights, Craig Trainor, said issued a letter noting that “[e]ducational institutions have toxically indoctrinated students with the false premise that the United States is built upon ‘systemic and structural racism’ and advanced discriminatory policies and practices.”
Some individuals had promoted and tried to justify such practices “under the banner of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (‘DEI’), smuggling racial stereotypes and explicit race-consciousness into everyday training, programming, and discipline,” Trainor wrote, adding that discrimination based on race, color or…
