Cole Leinart, a Class of 2026 quarterback, announced his commitment Wednesday to SMU. Leinart is the son of college football legend Matt Leinart, who won repeat national championships (2003-04) and a Heisman Trophy with USC as their starting QB. Out of Redondo, California, Leinart received offers from Pittsburgh, Colorado, Georgia State and UNLV. In the ’26 class, he’s ranked as the No. 81 best quarterback in the nation, and with his commitment, he’s now the second member of the Mustangs’ recruiting class for that particular year.
