Chappell Roan Covers Heart’s ‘Barracuda’ on ‘Midwest Princess’ Tour

Heart were pissed off when they recorded their single “Barracuda” in 1977. The record emerged from a period in which false narratives constantly swirled around the band. “The real thing don’t do the trick, no/You better make up something quick,” Heart bit back on the song. Fast forward nearly five decades and the record has found new resonance with another popular artist: Chappell Roan. Having recently found herself pushed to adamantly defend her character, the musician performed a raging cover of “Barracuda” during a concert in Iowa.

With bright red lights soaking the stage in a fiery hue, Roan belted out the record at full force.
