The Supreme Court has upheld a law allowing the removal of Second Amendment rights on thin procedure.
The Supreme Court ruled in an 8-1 decision authored by Chief Justice John Roberts that civil domestic abuse court judges may issue bans on firearm possession. Justice Thomas was the lone dissenter.
Chief Justice Roberts delivered the opinion for the Court in which Justices Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Barrett, and Ketanji Jackson joined. Justice Sotomayor filed a concurring opinion joined by Justice Kagan. Justice Gorsuch also filed a separate concurrence, joined by Justices Kavanaugh, Barrett, and Jackson. Justice Clarence Thomas was the lone dissenter.
