The incoming president had already planned to replace the head of the FBI
Christopher Wray, the director of the FBI, has informed staff at the Bureau that he intends to resign in January.
Wray was nominated to lead the FBI in 2017 by then-President Trump. Since then, however, he has incurred the former and future president’s wrath by leading an agency that Trump, his allies, and supporters believe has been weaponized against him.
FBI directors are appointed for 10-year terms but, in reality, they serve at the pleasure of the president.
