Multibillionaire and ex-Microsoft CEO Bill Gates joined President-elect Donald Trump for dinner, where they engaged in a wide-ranging discussion of topics including public health, finding a cure for HIV, and how to combat polio in developing countries.
“I had a chance, about two weeks ago, to go have a long and actually quite intriguing dinner with him,” Gates said during an interview with Wall Street Journal Editor-in-Chief Emma Tucker.
He shared that he was “impressed” by Trump’s enthusiasm and interest in matters of public health during the three-hour dinner.
“He, in the Covid days, accelerated the vaccine innovation,” Gates said. “So I was asking him if maybe the same kind of thing could be done here, and we both got, I think, pretty excited about that.”
