That’s what makes this sport so thrilling to watch: Athletes like Team USA’s Katie Ledecky and France’s Léon Marchand torpedo through the water on their way to the podium and make it all look as natural as walking. As of publication time, the U.S. has secured a whopping 15 medals (of a total 27) in swimming — the most of any sport at the 2024 Summer Olympics — and the aquatic athletics show no signs of slowing down.
