Many Democrats appear to share President-elect Donald Trump’s positions involving transgender issues, puberty blockers for minors and illegal immigration, in contrast to otherwise negative reactions to his upcoming second term in the White House, a new poll from The New York Times and Ipsos shows.
Despite 86% of the Democrat and Democrat-leaning respondents expressing pessimism (20%) and worry (66%) about Trump’s return, 67% of them oppose allowing transgender athletes into women’s sports, the poll shows. Barring transgender athletes from women’s sports also drew the support of 64% of Independents and 94% of Republican and Republican-leaning respondents.
