Mel Gibson Issues Cheeky Response After Discovering Donald Trump Gave Him Special Ambassador Status

Actor Mel Gibson said he had no idea he had been appointed as a special ambassador by Donald Trump until he read about the news on social media.

“I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised,” he said in a statement Jan. 17 to The Hollywood Reporter. “Nevertheless, I heed the call.”

The actor lost his Malibu home during the Palisades Fire that ravaged Los Angeles. He seized the opportunity to send a cheeky response to Trump.

“Any chance the position comes with an Ambassador’s residence?” Gibson said.

President-elect Donald Trump announced he was naming Jon Voight, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone as Hollywood’s special ambassadors in a message shared Jan. 16 on Truth Social.
