Plane Crashes Into South Korean Airport Fence Leaving At Least 28 Dead

A Jeju Air passenger plane crashed Sunday at a South Korean airport after its landing gear malfunctioned, leaving at least 28 people dead.

The plane, which was traveling from Bangkok to Muan, had an issue with its landing gear causing it to veer off the runway, hit a fence and catch on fire, the Associated Press (AP) reported, citing local reports. Officials said the fire is almost put out and they are still in the process of removing passengers for the plane at Muan International Airport.

The Boeing 737-800 was believed to be carrying 175 passengers and six crew members onboard. South Korean media outlets reported that at least 28 people have died, according to the AP. The Muan Fire Station told the AP they could not immediately confirm the causality amount but said they have pulled at least two people from the scene, one crew member and one passenger.
