Lt. General Igor Kirillov in charge of Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Defense Forces (NBC) of the Russian Army, has been assassinated by an explosion in Moscow.
Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov was killed outside an apartment building on Ryazansky Prospekt, which starts some 7 km (4.35 miles) south-east of the Kremlin.
The explosion was caused by a device hidden inside a scooter, according to the Investigating committee. His assistant was also killed, it said.
The report comes a day after Ukrainian prosecutors charged the general with using banned chemical weapons in Ukraine, according to the Kyiv Post.
Russian media claim that the explosion also ripped out the front door, broke the glass of the residential block, and damaged the general’s official car.
The detonation itself could have been carried out remotely.
