Shawn Mendes honored Liam Payne during his performance at the Brooklyn Paramount Theater in New York on Friday night.
The singer addressed the crowd and said that he had met Payne “a couple of times. He added, “He was a beautiful soul and his eyes gleamed. It was beauty shining through his eyes.” Payne died on Wednesday at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel room in Argentina.
“It’s about grieving those we miss with tears and it’s also about celebrating them and who they were and what they left in this world,” Mendes continued. “I just want to take a second to send so much love to him wherever he is up there.
