She left the party and became a fierce critic – and now she’s backing the former Republican president.
Former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard threw her support behind Donald Trump on Monday, Aug 26. Her endorsement of the former president and 2024 Republican nominee comes just days after Robert F Kennedy Jr. suspended his campaign for president and announced that he, too, would be supporting Trump’s White House bid.
Gabbard left the Democratic Party in 2022. The timing of her announcement is significant. It coincides with the 3rd anniversary of the suicide bombing that killed 13 American military personnel during the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The former representative from Hawaii has been an outspoken critic of the Democratic Party since she switched her affiliation to Independent.
