Global Markets Fall Ahead of Pelosi’s Taiwan Visit

U.S. stock futures and global markets slipped Tuesday on fears that U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s planned visit to Taiwan could heighten tensions between Beijing and Washington and add geopolitical risk to investors’ already muted outlook.

Futures tied to the S&P 500 fell 0.9%, a day after the broad index ended its first trading day of the new month slightly lower. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures slipped 0.7% Tuesday while technology-heavy Nasdaq-100 futures lost 1%.
