The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced its top names for 2023 — and there’s a new name on the list!
Mateo popped in for the first time on the top 10 list for boys’ names at number six. The name may seem familiar as several celebrities have used it over the years, including Lionel Messi, who has a son named Mateo.
Ricky Martin and opera singer Andrea Bocelli have also used a variation of the name — Matteo — to name their sons.
There were no changes to the top names for boys and girls — Liam and Olivia — which have spent multiple years in a row at number one. For Liam, it’s the seventh straight year that it has been at the top for boys’ names while Olivia has spent four years at the top for girls’ names.
